Grace

 Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,  not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Grace is God's Riches At Christ's Expense. It's an undeserved gift. It doesn't mean to say we can do what we like: we're God's workmanship- created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do.

Faith is the key that unlocks the door of salvation. We can't unlock the gates of glory by our efforts. Only the free gift of God can get us into his good books.

Our works are naturally like filthy rags, autumn leaves, or a gust of wind. God can sanctify them. Yet it's only by faith that we can enter into acceptance with him.

There's no room for boasting. Even our good works are prepared in advance by God for us to do. He's the One who empowers us to do good, the glory is his.

'Lord our God, we're grateful that salvation is of you, because we know there is no other way. May we ever live to glorify you. For Jesus' sake, amen'.
