Heart

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)

Elsewhere, Jeremiah describes our hearts as deceitful above all things and desperately wicked! So far, so bad! Thankfully, God can do a spiritual heart transplant for us.

Once we've had a spiritual heart transplant, we need to guard our hearts. If our hearts are in the right place, so shall the rest of us be. Spiritually, our hearts are as important to our souls as our physical hearts are to our bodies.

Whatever we decide to do in life begins in the heart. There's a saying that if we sow a thought, we reap an action. If we reap an action, we reap a habit. If we sow a habit, we reap a character. If we sow a character, we reap a destiny.

Whether we end up with God in glory, or estranged from Him for eternity is determined in our hearts. If God sorts our hearts out, and we guard them, we'll be alright. If He doesn't, we're lost.

'Heavenly Father, please transform our hearts to become spiritually alive. Then may we guard our hearts, and may You grant us a home with You for eternity. In Christ's name we pray, amen'
