Readiness

You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”

Luke 12:40 (NLT)

Jesus is coming back. Mockers scoff at such a thought. It's been 2,000 years, but He doesn't work to our timescale.

Just when people don't expect Him, Christ will return. Elsewhere He's described as returning like a thief in the night. We need to be ready for His return.

If we know the day of Christ's return, maybe we would be tempted to have a kind of 'deathbed conversion'. We could just repent at the last minute, and live selfishly the rest of the time. To be honest though, we can't just magically switch on repentance.

If we're not repentant now, why would we be upon the return of Christ? Today is the day of salvation. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

'Heavenly Father, may we be ready for Christ's return. Please help us to repent and live for You and Your glory, now and evermore, amen'
