Shiny!
Daniel 12:3 ESV
And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of
the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever
and ever.
Daniel helps to define what wisdom is. It isn’t necessarily
having a high IQ. It is turning many to righteousness.
Biblical wisdom isn’t just about being knowledgeable. It’s
also about making good decisions with the knowledge we have. It’s not enough for
us to be individualistically righteous; we should be encouraging others to live
right too.
I know I personally, and I’m sure many others, find it hard
to turn people to righteousness. People would rather do whatever makes them
feel good in the moment, selfishly. Even personally, righteousness doesn’t come
naturally, never mind to encourage others to be righteous.
The promise in this verse is beautiful. If we are wise, we’ll
reflect something of the glory of God, like a star out there in the universe.
Unlike the stars, if we are wise, we will have everlasting life, through faith
in the Lord Jesus Christ, wisdom personified.
‘Heavenly Father, please help us to be wise, not just for
ourselves, but to also call others to live rightly before You, and for Your
glory, amen.’
