Cry!
Romans 8:26 NLT
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

Often, when I don't know what to pray for (I'm not the most Jacobean in prayer!), I simply pray for the Lord's will to be done. I don't necessarily know what God's will is in a certain situation, but God does. Paul goes one step further here.
There's times when we're so much in anguish that words cannot express how upset we're feeling. We can't even verbalise our torment of soul. Maybe it's persecution or the fiery arrows of the evil one that are raining down upon us on trials and temptations.
In those kind of speechless moments, the Holy Spirit comes through for us. God indwelling within us intercedes with Father God with groans that words cannot express. Even the Lord Jesus cried out from the cross.
God doesn't hold it against us if we're not up at 3am going through a prayer list. If we're tossing and turning though, we would do well to turn that upset into prayer. Even if it's just a wordless cry to God, we should do it.
'Heavenly Father, please answer even our wordless prayers and help us to cry out to You even when words fail us. In Jesus' name, amen'
