Battle
And he said, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s.

The historical context of this verse might seem far removed from us. Yet sadly, conflict such as Judah was experiencing remains a perennial feature of life on earth to this day. So there's something for us to learn from this verse.
When we consider our weakness, and our enemy's strength, we naturally get scared and discouraged. The adversary of our souls is prowling around looking for whom he might devour, like a lion on the hunt. If the battle depended on us, we'd be hopeless.
Thankfully, even in the spiritual realm, the battle isn't ours ultimately. Even in the natural realm, God is sovereign and will work things out for good and for His glory. So we can take encouragement from that fact.
At the end of the day, the battle is the Lord's. In the end, He will overcome all that troubles us. Essentially, the victory is already assured by Christ's death and resurrection. We're just awaiting the final fruition of His victory.
'Sovereign Father in heaven, may we remember that the battle is ultimately Yours, and that You have the victory. May this truth assure us that we needn't be afraid. In Jesus' name, amen'
