Kindness

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
Proverbs 31:26 ESV

The 'Proverbs 31 woman' is an exemplary person. We often might think of her (rightly) as an excellent businesswoman, but I love this detail in this verse too. She doesn't just do well, but speaks well too.

The Proverbs 31 woman isn't stingy with her wisdom. She's generous with her knowledge. Nowadays she'd probably set up a podcast to teach people how to balance faith, family and work.

Not everyone's cut out to be successful in business. We can all work hard at what we do, but the Proverbs 31 woman is kind to those who might not be as successful as her. She imparts her knowledge; she doesn't keep it to herself.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Kindness is a fruit of God's Spirit. When we fear God, we come to Him for salvation and for Him to bear fruit in our lives.

'Dear God, please help us to learn from the Proverbs 31 woman, whatever our gender. May we too be wise and kind, in Christ's name, amen'
