Favour
And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants and in the sight of the people.

Like the children of Israel ought to have lived as strangers in Egypt, exiles from the promised land. As God began plaguing Egypt before Israel's redemption, we get this verse. We might assume the Egyptians would hate the Israelites as scapegoats.
Whatever Egyptian propaganda might have said about Israel and Moses, ordinary Egyptians favoured and respected them. So it should be with us. I tried and failed to think of a contemporary Moses figure in the UK. For America I remember Billy Graham.
How far gone the UK must be to have no Mosaic figure! Archbishops and priests are no better than Sadducees and Pharisees! I love how Billy Graham was universally respected, even by enemies of the gospel.
We need to make ourselves available to God's service, like Moses. We need to live for the promised land, as the meek who will inherit the earth. This world isn't our home, the new creation is.
'Lord, thank You for faithful elder statesmen in Your Kingdom. May we remember and live as Your people, for Your glory and honour we pray, amen'
