Seek

 1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV

  Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!


When we truly know the Lord, we're not stingy with him. We call others to get to know him too. David was no exception.

Jesus promises that those who seek will find. If we seek the Lord we will find him. If we seek his strength, weakness won't define us.

We're to seek God like someone seeks a relationship: with passionate desire. He isn't just a means to the end of salvation. He is salvation personified.

We're not just saved from hell. We're saved into a relationship with the Lord God Almighty. We are to pursue him wholeheartedly.

'Lord, we seek you and your strength. May you ever be present within and among us. In Jesus' name we ask this, amen'.

Confession

  Ezra 10:2 ESV And Shecaniah the son of Jehiel , of the sons of Elam , addressed Ezra : “We have broken faith with our God and have married foreign women from the peoples of the land, but even now there is hope for Israel in spite of this.  God's people were at a low ebb. Although they were restored to the promised land, they were still in thrall to their Persian occupiers . Instead of committing to God, they had adulterated themselves with the unbelieving people around them. We might wonder what this has to do with us. Even in the new covenant era , we're commanded not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers . In other words, it's wrong for a Christian to marry a pagan . Allowance

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Ephesians 4:2 (NLT) We're to be Christlike. He is the ultimate example of humility, gentleness, patience and love. Not only so, but He empowers us by His Holy Spirit to become conformed to His likeness. Christ humbled Himself to death on a cross on our behalf. He was gentle with people who were cruel to Him. He was patient with those who murdered Him, and prayed, 'Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they're doing'. Because of Christ's love, God can make allowances for our faults. We deserve His condemnation, but thankfully we can be forgiven because of Christ's sacrifice on our behalf. Our sins can't just be brushed under the carpet, they have to be dealt with at the cross.
