Summary of the Bible in 66 Posts: Chosen- 1 Peter
1 Peter 2:9 ESV
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
The Christian life isn't so much about us choosing God. The Christian life is more about the implications of God choosing us. He didn't choose us because we're naturally worthy, but plucked us out of spiritual darkness.
When we come to faith in Jesus, we become adopted into God's family. We become royalty, children of the King of kings. We're also priests who intercede for people before God and represent him to them.
God makes us holy by the blood of Christ and the work of his Spirit. Once we were not a people, but now we are the people of God. We are his own treasured possession.
We are to proclaim the excellencies of God to those still in darkness. We are to call people into the Light. We are to be beacons in a dark world.
'Our heavenly Father, we praise you for choosing us. May we be faithful ambassadors of you, until you call us home. In Christ's name we pray, amen'.
