Generosity

 Acts 20:35 ESV

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

We shouldn't just work hard to be selfish. Jesus isn't a lottery ticket. We should work hard to enable us to express generosity.

Having been forgiven of our greed and materialism for example, we might assume we can go back to such ways of thinking. Yet God commands us not to be stingy, but to be generous.

This phrase of Jesus's is only recorded here. It's not in the four gospels. Yet Paul too was an Apostle of Christ and had heard this phrase.

It's nice to receive good things. Yet it's even more rewarding to give gifts. This is because it makes us feel good when we do so.

'Our heavenly Abba, please help us to look out for the week in our midst, and so be blessed by you. In Jesus' name, amen'.
