Service

 Matthew 20:28 ESV

even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

We like to be served, but sadly we don't often want to serve. Jesus commands us to serve, and leads by example. He didn't even need to serve, but he did so, such is his love for us.

We tend to look down on servants. Yet who is really greater: one who is passively served, or one who actively serves? As Harry and Meghan said, 'service is universal'.

As Bob Dylan said 'well it may be the devil, or it may be the Lord, but you gotta serve someone'. Service is universal. Yet we need to make sure we're serving the right person.

Jesus by dying did the ultimate service: to give his life as a ransom for many. There's no room for blasting if we serve him well. We're simply doing our duty for our Lord and Saviour.

'Almighty God, may we serve you as you deserve. We praise you for that amazing truth that Christ serves us, in his name we pray, amen'.
