Fight

 Ephesians 6:12 ESV

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 


The Christian life isn't a walk in the park. It's a battle with demonic forces. Alone, we're helpless against the devil's schemes.

Thankfully, we don't need to battle in our own strength. In Christ, we have the victory. He equips us with all we need to overcome.

We need to put on the whole armour of God to be able to take a stand in the evil hour. God provides everything necessary to be victorious. We just need to trust him.

Even though God is sovereign, he has ordained that satan has real power. If we're not in Christ, we're in thrall to the devil. We must break free in the power of Jesus.

'Sovereign God, please help us in the battle, to fully rely on you. Please give us the victory, in Christ's name, amen'.

Confession

 Ezra 10:2 ESV And Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, of the sons of Elam, addressed Ezra: “We have broken faith with our God and have married foreign women from the peoples of the land, but even now there is hope for Israel in spite of this.  God's people were at a low ebb. Although they were restored to the promised land, they were still in thrall to their Persian occupiers. Instead of committing to God, they had adulterated themselves with the unbelieving people around them. We might wonder what this has to do with us. Even in the new covenant era, we're commanded not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. In other words, it's wrong for a Christian to marry a pagan. Enemies

  For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. They would rather worship food than the Source of all good things. Many people glory in their shame: what they get up to on a weekend for example. Others might idolise otherwise commendable things, like their own deeds. Some people trust in religion rather than in having a personal relationship with God. God doesn't want our deeds, He wants us. In a similar way, a wife doesn't just want flowers and chocolates: she wants faithful love. Children don't just want presents: they want their parents to be there for them.
