Salvation

 Matthew 1:21 ESV

She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

Right when Adam and Eve first messed everything up for humanity, God promised his Son would be born of a virgin. He told the devil that the Seed of the woman (not of a man) would crush his head.

Mary was that woman. A humble peasant from the sticks was honoured to bear the Son of God. She wasn't perfect, but she was blessed to have Christ as her firstborn Son.

Jesus is the Greek form of Joshua, which means 'the Lord saves'. There is salvation in no one else. It's not 50/50 between God and us to earn our salvation.

We've all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We're all worthy of his condemnation. Yet through Jesus we can be forgiven.

'Heavenly Father, we praise you for your virgin born Son, miraculously incarnated to save us. May we trust in him all our days, until you call us home. In his name we pray, amen'.
