Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

James 1:5 (NIV)

None of us are wise by default. We're born pretty clueless, apart from to eat, poo, cry and sleep. We need God to make us wise.

Of course, James isn't simply referring to the wisdom to get a job, but to live a life that's honouring to God. This is part of the Bible, which is a spiritual book. James is referring to spiritual wisdom, not just having a high I.Q.

I love the God of the Bible because He's generous. He's not stingy. He's not a fault-finder.

We just need to ask and to believe that God will give us wisdom for life, and He will. He's not trying to trip us up. If we don't think God will give us wisdom, there's no point asking Him.

'God, please make us wise for salvation and a life of discipleship of You. For the honour of Your name, amen'.
