Power

'It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me.'

Jeremiah 27:5 ESV

The LORD is the Almighty God. He is the Maker of all things. We don't live in a dualistic world.

Not only is God all powerful, but He's also sovereign. He delegates His power to those whom He will. It's not necessarily His own people who wield power. It could be anyone from the Babylonians to the Americans and the Chinese.

All God needs to do is to speak, and things happen. Worldly powers assume they are the bee's knees. Yet they only have agency insofar as God delegates it to them.

God does whatever He likes. We're impotent to challenge His actions. Whatever we do, He will call us to account for.

'Almighty Lord, we acknowledge Your sovereignty and pray that we would submit to the unfolding of Your purposes. In the powerful name of Christ, amen'.
