Pottery
O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the LORD. Behold, like the clay in the potter's hands, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.
Jeremiah 18:6 ESV
God can do what He wants with us. There's no room for us to have any sense of entitlement. We are clay; He is the Potter.
A potter can do what he likes with a lump of clay. If he wants to throw it away, he can do so. If he decides to mould it into something useful, that's his choice.
Us questioning God is like a lump of clay questioning the potter. We have no right to do so. God owes us no explanation.
If God moulds us into vessels for His glory, we will praise His holy name. If He decides to discard us as we deserve, we have no right to appeal. We must simply bow before His sovereign will.
'LORD, we acknowledge Your right to do with us as You wish. Please mould us into useful vessels for Your glory. In Christ's name, amen'.
