Plans
'For I know the plans I have for you', declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.'
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
This is a verse beloved by God's people for its positivity. It is in the context of the negativity of Judah's seventy years in captivity in Babylon. God is able to bring good out of bad circumstances.
Even the seemingly small detail that God's plans for us are plural is reassuring. If God only had one plan for us, and we messed up, as we do, that would be discouraging. Happily though, God has more than one plan for our lives.
The LORD is concerned for our welfare. He wants what's best for us. He's not out to get us.
We have a future if we belong to Jesus. Even if we're martyred for Him, that isn't the end. We have the living hope of an eternity to enjoy with Him.
'Lord our God, we're grateful for Your plans for our welfare and future hope. Help us know You're not out to get us. In Jesus' name we pray, amen'.
