Justification

She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more."

John 8:11 ESV

A great song that references this occasion is The Son Must Follow the Moon by Tillerman: Google it and have a listen! A woman was caught in adultery, worthy of death, but Jesus refused to condemn her. He rebuked those who hypocritically would have condemned her.

The woman's hypocritical accusers had the honesty to leave when Jesus told the one without sin to cast the first stone. As the only One without sin, Jesus could well have condemned this woman to hell. Yet He refused to do so.

Jesus didn't belittle the woman's sin. She was worthy of death, according to God's Law. Yet Jesus's Law of love trumps Moses' law of condemnation.

The summary of God's law in relation to one another is that we love each other. By implication, we're not to condemn each other. Instead, we are to forgive and to encourage each other to transform into the likeness of Christ.

'Lord God, we're so grateful for Your justification and acceptance of us, even though we deserve Your condemnation. Please help us to leave our lives of sin. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, amen'.
