Believe!
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
ROMANS 10:14 (NIV)
All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. What a
great promise! If we believe that God raised Christ from the dead, and declare
that He is Lord, we will have eternal life.
Those promises are great, but this verse naturally follows.
If people have never heard of the Lord Jesus Christ, they can’t come to Him for
eternal life. He is the only way!
Those of us who know that Jesus is the way, the truth and
the life must declare Him to those who don’t! To make Him known is our
secondary purpose in life, closely related to our primary purpose in life. We
exist to glorify God, and we are to proclaim Him so that others come to glorify
Him too.
The main reason we’re not fast-tracked to glory is so that
we can tell others about Jesus so that they have an opportunity to be saved as
well. We’re not to be miserly with the gospel. We’re to shout it from the rooftops.
‘Our Father in heaven, please help us to be faithful in
preaching the good news, whether we feel confident or not. May our confidence
be in You to do Your work through our faltering efforts. For the honour of Your
name, amen’.
