Law
But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

If we look into the mirror, we would do well to remember whether we need to wash our faces or not. If we go away and forget, it was a waste of time to look into the mirror in the first place. Likewise with the word of God.
God's word is like a spiritual mirror that helps us see how we're doing spiritually. In all likelihood, we're not doing amazingly, and need to wash our metaphorical faces at the least. If we forget our spiritual need after reading the Bible, we may as well not have read it in the first place.
We tend to think of the law as restrictive, yet James describes it as the law of liberty. There's no contradiction between Moses and Jesus. It's just that Moses makes us realise that we need Jesus.
Moses and Jesus alike tell us to love God, and one another. It's just that Jesus actually empowers us to do so, and sets us a perfect example to follow. With the help of His Holy Spirit, we can live lives defined by love.
'Heavenly Father, help us love You and one another as we ought we pray. Don't let us simply hear Your word, but put it into practice in our lives we pray. In Christ's name, amen'
