Inheritance

 And the Lord said to Aaron, "You shall have no inheritance in their land, neither shall you have any portion among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the people of Israel.

The Israelite Levitical priests didn't have an inheritance or portion in the land. All the other tribes of Israel had their own geographical areas. Not so the Levites- they were scattered throughout Israel to serve the Lord and His people.

The Lord God Himself was to be the portion and inheritance of the Levites. That might have seemed disappointing to them, too transcient. Yet it is this world that is passing away; the Lord will endure eternally.

Jesus promises His followers that in His Father's house there are many rooms. He has returned to heaven to prepare places for His people in His heavenly Kingdom. Like the Levites, the Lord is the portion and inheritance of Christians.

We're also told by Jesus not to store up treasures on earth. We can't keep them when we die. So it's better to store up treasures in heaven by following Christ and living well for Him.

'O Lord God Almighty, may You be our inheritance and portion. May we invest in the new creation instead of being obsessed with this world. For Your honour and praise we pray, amen'

Power

Family

  But he answered them, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it."
