Preparation

By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

Noah might seem archaic and antediluvian, but he has lessons for us today. Jesus warned us that as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be when He Himself returns. So we would do well to learn from him.

Like Noah, God warns us of events to come, especially the day of judgment when Christ returns. Like Noah, we ought to display some healthy fear at this prospect. We don't need to live in nuclear bunkers. We just need to warn people to be reconciled with God before it's too late.

We don't need to construct arks or bomb shelters or anything like that. We do however need to spiritually hide ourselves in Christ. We need to trust in Him for salvation.

By living for the next world, we become heirs of righteousness. By implication, we condemn this lost and dying world with its preoccupation with the present. We need an eternal perspective.

'Lord God Almighty, may we learn from Noah's example. May we live for the life to come, in the name of Christ we pray, amen'
