Why A.I. Will Never Understand the Gospel
'Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things. '
1 Peter 1:10-12 NIV
Even angels can't comprehend salvation. There's no salvation for angels. If they rebelled with the devil, they're hopeless.
Angels can't understand why God would save rebellious humanity. To be honest, realistically, neither can we. People question why God allows suffering; but even harder to answer is why God allows salvation.
If perfect angelic beings can't understand salvation, why would we expect our flawed creation, A.I. God created angels perfect. He created us perfect too for that matter, but we rebelled against him.
A.I. was flawed from the outset. Like Google, it is useful, but it's not fool proof. It's a helpful tool, but it's not to be idolised.
I'm sure A.I. can craft a better devotional than me. I'm sure it can give a textbook answer as to what the gospel is. Yet as far as I am understand it, A.I. aggregates information that it skims off the internet, so it's likely to get the wrong end of the stick.
I asked A.I. about myself, first and last name, and with a bit of prompting, it made someone up! I googled him, and I discovered that this person doesn't even exist! I know Google isn't perfect either, but I trust Google to give me evidence of someone's existence over A.I.
The moral of the story is that like money, A.I. makes a good servant, but a lousy master. We can utilise A.I. to improve our writing. Yet if we get A.I. to do our writing for us, we may as well not bother at all.
This verse comes to mind, which I remember in the inimitable language of the KJV for some reason (even though I currently use the ESV and grew up with the NIV):
'To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.' Isaiah 8:20 KJV
A.I. has its uses I'm sure, but if we want to know the meaning of life, in the words of Isaiah, 'to the law and the testimony'- get into the word of God, the Bible.
'Lord God Almighty, forbid that we would idolise A.I. May we use it well, even in your service, but may we prioritise your word to learn from you. For your glory, amen'.
P.S. What's your verdict of A.I.?
