Grace
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age
Titus 2:11-12 (NIV)
God's grace is powerful. It's not just a nice thought. It's His undeserved kindness to us in Christ crucified on our behalf.
Anyone can be saved. It doesn't matter who we are or what we've done. We're not too bad that God's grace cannot deal with our wrongdoing.
If we are saved, God's grace will teach us to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions. We don't have to give in to sinful desires. God gives us the power to say No.
Instead of being lustful or greedy or proud for example, we are to live differently, by God's grace. We're to be self-controlled, upright and godly. If we are, there's no room for pride, because it's down to God's graciousness that there's any good in us.
'Gracious God, please save us from our ungodliness and worldly passions. Please help us to live self controlled, upright, and godly lives in the here and now, until You call us home. In Christ's powerful name we pray, amen'.
