Glory

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

John 1:14 New Living Translation (NLT)

The 'Word' was John's way of describing the Son of God, because He's who God the Father wanted to communicate to us. If we want to know what it means to be human, we need look no further than the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the perfect Man.

Just as Jesus was full of unfailing love and faithfulness, so should we be. John was an eyewitness of His glory. Even we though can see with eyes of faith through eyewitness accounts like John's gospel.

The sense of Jesus making His home with us was that He 'tabernacled' or 'pitched up tent' amongst us. If we want to know God, we need look no further than His Son. He is the image of the invisible God.

We might think of a son as inferior to his father, but not with God. God the Father and Son are eternally coexisting with the Holy Spirit and are perfectly equal, even as they have their own personalities and roles.

'Heavenly Father, we praise You for sending Your Son to live amongst us and to restore us to Yourself. In His name we pray, amen'
