Temple

Don’t you realise that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

1 Corinthians 3:16 (NLT)

Traditionally, a temple is somewhere you go to worship your god. Like a sports arena. The Apostle Paul's pretty radical here.

If we belong to Jesus, we ourselves are the temple of God. We house the Holy Spirit of God. Therefore, as God is holy, we ought to be holy.

Being God's temple, we ought to be people who others can meet with God through. We are described elsewhere as a kingdom of priests. We are intermediaries between God and people.

Jesus is the Light of the world. Yet He also described us His people as the light of the world. He's exalted in heaven, but His light is reflected through us.

'God Almighty, please help us to be holy as You are holy, and to be good ambassadors of You. For Your honour and praise we pray, amen'
