Encouragement

So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT)

I love how Paul practices what he preaches with this verse. He preaches encouragement. Not only so, he encourages the Thessalonian church that they're already encouragements.

It's good to be an encouragement. We never quite 'make it' with encouragement however. We can never rest on our laurels when it comes to encouragement.

Encouragement and edification aren't static. They're dynamic things that have to be built up. They don't just magically appear by osmosis.

Maybe we're in a desperate situation, surrounded by the rubble of trouble. Yet we can clear the rubble and start to rebuild. We need one another to do so. No man is an island, we're sociable beings who are to help one another.

'Dear Lord, we praise You for the encouragement You give us. Please help us also to be an encouragement to others. In Jesus' name we pray, amen'
