My Dear Daughters: Chapter 2: Trust Issues
I've vaguely heard people talk about 'trust issues'. I'm sure there's deep psychological study into them. I'm not an authority on them, but here's my perspective.
You've probably got trust issues through no fault of you're own, because of your absentee father. I think they sometimes call it 'abandonment issues'.
Maybe you think I am going to ask you to trust me. To be honest, the onus is on me to restore the trust I have broken by my absence.
Honestly, the problem with trust in people is that it is naive. None of us are completely trustworthy. 'The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can understand it?'
Even if a prince comes on a white horse to sweep you off your feet, don't trust him! That's not just an overzealous dad talking, it's God's word!
'Don't trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation'. Even if the prince is well meaning, he's going to die, and his purposes will perish with him.
So far so bad. 'Oh cheers dad', I hear you sarcastically say. Thankfully, there is Good News. There is a Good Prince on a white horse, and He can give you peace even in troubling circumstances.
He's not just the Prince of Peace. He's the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Every knee will bow to Him, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The Lord is the only One you don't need to have trust issues with. He's Faithful and True, He's the Source of all happiness and joy. He will help you if you ask.
When we trust in Jesus, He gives us living hope in Him of a glorious eternity with Him. He's watching over you and will uphold you. God is a Good Good Father. Hallelujah (Praise the Lord!)!
