Resist!

 ‭1 Peter 5:8-9 ESV‬
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

The Christian life isn't a walk in the park. By all means we can have a sense of humour, but we should be sober-minded. The life of faith is no laughing matter.

We're to be watchful. We're not just to idly cruise through life. We need to look out for spiritual danger.

Jesus *is* the Lion of the tribe of Judah. The devil is only *like* a lion. Nonetheless, he is still a formidable adversary. We need Jesus to give us the victory.

Although we're to flee temptation, we can resist the devil. We can say as it were 'not today satan!' We're to stand firm in our faith.

We're in the same boat as countless other brethren. When we feel like we're losing, we do well to remember victories won by other saints. This should spur us on to victory for ourselves also.

'God, please grant us the victory against our adversary. May we stand firm in the faith, for Your glory and honour we pray, amen'.
