Perseverence
Luke 18:1 ESV
And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.

If we're praying for something, and it doesn't happen, we might easily get discouraged and want to give up. Maybe we want a breakthrough against a besetting sin, or want to get promoted in our work. Jesus encourages us not to give up.
If a widow can persistently insist on justice from an unjust judge, we can persist in asking God for whatever it is we're seeking. Clearly we have to ask according to His will. It's no use asking for a private jet!
Ultimately, we will experience justice when Jesus returns to judge the living and the dead. That's a scary thought when we think of our injustices. If we trust in Him however, He'll justify us.
Jesus ends His story with a rhetorical question: when He returns, will He find faith on the earth? Or, by implication, will we all have given up waiting for Him to return? God forbid that we should become discouraged in our spiritual lives.
'Heavenly Father, please help us to persevere in prayer. May You give us the answers we crave in our quest for justice. In Jesus' name, amen'
