Saviour

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.

I love how the gospel accounts interweave God in His holiness and mankind in our sinfulness. God isn't ashamed to be associated with the likes of us, amazingly. Almighty God humbled Himself to a virgin's womb.

Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit. His Father is God. He's the eternal Son of God, begotten, not created.

Having said the above, He isn't ashamed to associate with sinners like us. Even Mary admitted God was her Saviour. Her ancestors were a rogues gallery of fellow sinners.

Why did Jesus bother to become one of us? In order that He might save us. He's our perfect Substitute who takes our sin upon Himself and gives us His righteousness.

'Father God, thank You for sending Jesus in the power of Your Holy Spirit for our salvation. In His name we pray, amen'

Power

 But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.Exodus 9:16 ESVhttps://bible.com/bible/59/exo.9.16.ESV  Secular historians point to the lack of extra-biblical evidence of Hebrew slavery in Egypt and ensuing exodus. Helper

  Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. Psalm 54:4 ESV https://bible.com/bible/59/psa.54.4.ESV Being a helper is a humble role. Humanly speaking, we want to be the main act, not the side show. Yet, even though God is the director of life, He isn't afraid to step on stage to help us out. We might assume that the helper is subordinate to the helped. After all, if someone is deemed worthy of help, they must be important, right? Jesus came not to be served but to serve however. To be helped doesn't require us to do anything. To help is greater than to be helped. Better to actively contribute to someone rather than to simply passively benefit from someone's assistance.
