Soldier

 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.

The Christian life isn't literally a war. Yet we do need to wage spiritual warfare. Thankfully God has equipped us with His full armour to provide for us.

I don't think Paul is saying we can't have hobbies. Yet civilian pursuits aren't for soldiers of Christ. Should we really be wasting too much time on TV streaming services? Should we be mindlessly scrolling on social media?

Our raison d'etre is to worship God and to call others to do the same. It's a spiritual battle. Naturally we might want to just slob on the couch and mindlessly watch TV.

God has called us into His spiritual army, to fight for lost souls against dark spiritual forces. May He give us the fortitude to do so. May we equip ourselves with the full armour of God.

'Commander in Chief, help us to obey Your marching orders. Thank You for equipping us with all we need to fight for You and our fellow people. In Christ's name, amen'

Power

Even just earlier in this chapter, Jesus fed 5,000 men, plus women and children miraculously. But when He started making statements like this verse, He understandably became less popular.
