Punishment

What will you do on the day of punishment, in the ruin that will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth?
Isaiah 10:3 ESV

Isaiah was anticipating the punishment of Judah by Babylon. Yet his words could equally be applied to the return of Christ. Jesus is coming back to judge the living and the dead.

Ruin can't come from further than the highest heaven! Yet that's where Jesus will come from to condemn unrepentant rebels against Him. We need to make our peace with God before it's too late.

We can't flee for help to anyone. Elon Musk or Vladimir Putin or anyone like them will be impotent on that great day. We will all have to give an account of ourselves to God.

Wealth will be worthless on the day of judgment. We can't bribe God not to hold us to account. We came into this world with nothing and we'll leave empty handed too.

'Almighty Lord God, may we prepare for the great day of Christ's return. Help us to make our peace with You through Him. In His name we pray, amen'
