Despise

 And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will this people despise me? And how long will they not believe in me, in spite of all the signs that I have done among them?

Sadly, it's not just the ancient Israelites who despises the Lord. It's not even just skeptics and overt mockers. Many people who profess to be Christian rail against God when the going gets tough.

Life was tough for ancient Israel in the wilderness, but they didn't make it any easier for themselves. Because of their unbelief, they were doomed to spend decades wandering around the wilderness. If we aren't good witnesses of Christ, we similarly only delay His return and the advent of the promised land of the new creation.

One of the main reasons Jesus doesn't return yet is because there are still more people to be saved. If we want to get out of the wilderness of this world quicker, we could do little better than to make Christ known. He's defeated death on our behalf, all we need to do is trust Him.

We might scoff about a lack of miraculous signs. Yet every time someone comes to faith in the resurrected Lord Jesus, that's a miracle. We mustn't provoke God to anger with our unbelief.

'O Lord God, forbid that we would disbelieve in You. Help us to honour You in our lives, for Jesus' sake, amen'

Power

Even just earlier in this chapter, Jesus fed 5,000 men, plus women and children miraculously. But when He started making statements like this verse, He understandably became less popular.
