Communication
Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
Numbers 8:1 ESV

This simple refrain keeps cropping up throughout the book of Numbers. It's easy to overlook. Yet it's worth considering for a few moments.
Are we so careless as to fail to appreciate the awesomeness of this statement? Or does the idea of the Holy God communicating with sinful mankind not astound us. Moses for example had been guilty of murder. Yet God graciously transformed his life.
The idea that God would bother to communicate with us is amazing. He is holy and we are sinners. Why would He want to have anything to do with us?
The glory of God is to take our mess as it were and turn it into a message of His glorious grace to iniquitous people like us. Moses was able to lead God's people to the promised land because God communed with him. God still communicates to us today, primarily through the principles we can learn from His word the Bible.
'O Lord our God, thank You that You're still communicating today. Thank You that we don't need a booming voice from the heavens when we've got the quiet testimony of Your word. In Jesus' name, amen'
