Promises
Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, 'I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.'"
Exodus 32:13 ESV

God is understandably grieved when His people rebel against Him. Understandably, when the children of Israel committed spiritual adultery against Him, He told Moses He would destroy them and start again with Moses' family. I love Moses' intercessory reply.
Moses appealed to God's promises. God had promised Abraham, Isaac and Israel a multitude of descendants. Was God going to destroy them all now in an instant?
Having delivered His people from Egypt, was God going to now destroy them? Having saved us from sin, will God give up on us? We must forsake sin, yes. Yet God has promised never to leave or forsake us.
He who began a good work in us will carry it through to completion upon the day of Christ Jesus. Still, that doesn't mean to say we can spurn God's love. We're to keep in step with His Spirit.
'Glorious Lord our God, have mercy upon us for our rebellious ways we pray. Please remember Your promises to us we ask, in the mighty name of Christ we pray, amen'
