Unclean
"The leprous person who has the disease shall wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head hang loose, and he shall cover his upper lip and cry out, 'Unclean, unclean.'
Leviticus 13:45 ESV

What does some archaic law about skin disease have to do with us? Well, we're all naturally leprous spiritually. When honest people are confronted by Almighty God, that is their conclusion.
When Isaiah had a vision of the Lord in the temple, he said 'woe is me' because he realised his uncleanness. When Simon Peter first met Jesus, he asked Him to leave him, because of how keenly he felt his sin in His presence. What of us?
Do we acknowledge our natural uncleanness before the Holy One? Or do we assume we can simply waltz into His presence with a list of demands? Do we think we can make 'declarations' of what we want? Or do we leave the declarations to the Sovereign Lord?
Thankfully, Jesus can heal lepers, not just literally but also spiritually. Where once we were deadened to the pain our sin caused, now we feel its effects keenly, and repent. Jesus makes us spiritually clean and acceptable to God the Father.
'Father God, thank You for Your acceptance of us in the well Beloved. Please help us to feel the pain of our sin and repent of it, so that we might honour You in our lives, for Your glory and praise we pray, amen'
