Justice

 These also are sayings of the wise. Partiality in judging is not good. Whoever says to the wicked, "You are in the right," will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations, but those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them. Proverbs 24:23-25 ESV

The Thirty Wise Sayings are concluded, but there's plenty more wisdom where they came from. Solomon goes on to refer to justice. In the justice system it should be a level playing field, everyone should be equal before the law.

The rich shouldn't be able to buy acquittal. And the innocent poor shouldn't be condemned. If a judge tells a wicked man he's in the right, that judge is going to be despised the world over.

A judge who rebukes the wicked will be celebrated, and will delight in the praise they get. Instead of being cursed for doing a shoddy job, they'll be blessed for doing the right thing. The whole point of the judiciary is to serve justice- if it doesn't there's something seriously wrong.

Sadly, it feels like we're often cursed with injustice. The evildoers get away with it and the innocent are condemned. These things should not be, and cause people to curse the broken system. But when the courts get it right there's rejoicing and blessings.

"Judge of all the earth, we know that You will do what is right. May our earthly judges do likewise, and so be blessed. To Your praise and honour, amen"

Power

Family

  But he answered them, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it."
