Gold

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver. Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear. Proverbs 25:11-12 ESV

The blessings of "a word in season" doesn't mean to say that we should speak the Word of God when it feels like we're in a winter of spiritual deadness. Having said that, when the Word is well recieved,it's like beautiful ornaments.

To know that we've said the right thing at the right time is a real blessing. We might not associate a telling off with a gold ring or ornament. But if it's said and taken in the right spirit, it has its desired effect and things are changed for the better.

Don't be afraid of rebuke when you need it. None of us are perfect. So we need the honesty to face up to our faults, and sometimes that needs someone to reprove us.

The word reprove sounds like you knew something good, but you forgot it and need it "re-proving" in your life. We all need reminding of the good news of salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. We forget so easily. When we forget we start looking to ourselves rather than to God Himself.

"Our Father God, please remind us of the truth You've revealed to us, and continue to teach us more. May we speak good words in season and out of season, and have the blessing of being well received. In Christ's name, amen"
