Trust
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Psalm 56:11 ESV

Who or what do we trust in? Money? Then we might fear inflation. Loved ones? Then we might fear death. Alcohol? Then we might fear hangovers!
If we trust in God, we have no need to be afraid. If God is for us, who can be against us? What can separate us from the love of God? In all things that conspire to overcome our faith we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Fear is not appropriate for a child of God. Fear the Lord, by all means. But if we reverence Him in our lives, we'll have nothing left to fear. When we get to know Him, He drives out our fear by His love.
What can people do to us? They can mock us, insult us, persecute us, even kill us. Yet they cannot touch us spiritually. We are safe and secure in the One who gave Himself for us, and defeated death on our behalf.
'God, we trust in You. Forgive us if we're fearful, and help us realise there's no need to be afraid. In Jesus' name we pray, amen'
