Superior

 It is beyond dispute that the inferior is blessed by the superior.

We might often preoccupied with how we can bless God: a noble consideration. Do we ever stop however to consider how God blesses us? Ultimately He blesses us with eternal life!

The balance of blessing is inevitably in God's favour. Yes, He is blessed by our worship. Yet our worship pales into insignificance compared to the deliverance He has achieved for us.

The writer to the Hebrews was explaining how Melchizedek (the greater) blessed Abraham (the lesser). What's that got to do with us? Jesus is a great high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

God blesses us like Melchizedek blessed Abraham. The Levitical priesthood descended from Abraham, of which many early Hebrew Christians were part of, was inferior to the Melchizedekian one of Jesus. We need to trust in Jesus, not our lineage.

'Sovereign God, we thank You for our great high priest, the Lord Jesus Christ. May we serve Him as we ought, in His name, amen'

Power

Helper

Humanly speaking, we want to be the main act, not the side show. Yet, even though God is the director of life, He isn't afraid to step on stage to help us out.
