Rock

 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
Isaiah 26:4 ESV

When Jesus said that the wise man builds his life upon the rock, He explained that the rock is His Word. Jesus is the Word become flesh, through whom all things were made. He is the eternal Son of God.

I'm not a Hebrew scholar, but the Hebrew for 'rock' is a combination of the Hebrew words for 'Father' and 'Son'. The Holy Spirit of God magnifies Father and Son. The triune God is the rock upon which our faith is built.

It is by the Holy Spirit that we must build our lives upon the Father and the Son. The Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. That Jesus is Lord and Saviour is the rock upon which the church is built.

God isn't someone to be temporarily trusted, to get us out of some tricky patch in our lives. He is to be trusted forever. He is an everlasting rock and if we build our lives on Him we'll live forever.

'Father in heaven, thank You for the eternal life we enjoy in Your Son, through the Holy Spirit. May we trust You forever and build our lives on You and Your word, in Jesus' name, amen'

Power

Helper

  Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. Psalm 54:4 ESV https://bible.com/bible/59/psa.54.4.ESV Being a helper is a humble role. Humanly speaking, we want to be the main act, not the side show. Yet, even though God is the director of life, He isn't afraid to step on stage to help us out. We might assume that the helper is subordinate to the helped. After all, if someone is deemed worthy of help, they must be important, right? Jesus came not to be served but to serve however. To be helped doesn't require us to do anything. To help is greater than to be helped. Better to actively contribute to someone rather than to simply passively benefit from someone's assistance.
