Light

 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:5 ESV

It might sound obvious that God is pure light. Yet so many cast doubt upon this. So many call evil good and the good God evil.

Even those of us who profess faith in the Light of the world mustn't walk in the darkness of sin. If we do, we betray the counterfeit nature of our profession. We need to come into the light.

The fact that God is light isn't necessarily a comfortable truth. We are by default in darkness and need God to draw us into the light. Too often we shrink away from what we know to be right and retreat into the shadows.

We need God to shine His light on what is amiss in our lives. We need to deal with the dark corners of our lives and bring them into the light of Christ. He is a merciful God, we need to come to Him rather than to shrink away from Him in shame.

'Light of the world, may we reflect something of Your glory. May we be holy as You are holy. For Your honour and praise we pray, amen'

Power

 But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.Exodus 9:16 ESVhttps://bible.com/bible/59/exo.9.16.ESV  Secular historians point to the lack of extra-biblical evidence of Hebrew slavery in Egypt and ensuing exodus. But here in this verse, God describes how this anonymous Pharoah has been immortalised in the annals of the Hebrews, so that God is proclaimed in all the earth. Helper

  Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. Psalm 54:4 ESV https://bible.com/bible/59/psa.54.4.ESV Being a helper is a humble role. Humanly speaking, we want to be the main act, not the side show. Yet, even though God is the director of life, He isn't afraid to step on stage to help us out. We might assume that the helper is subordinate to the helped. After all, if someone is deemed worthy of help, they must be important, right? Jesus came not to be served but to serve however. To be helped doesn't require us to do anything. To help is greater than to be helped. Better to actively contribute to someone rather than to simply passively benefit from someone's assistance.
