On the face of it, there's not much difference between a son and a servant in the family business. Both serve the big boss, the patriarch. Ultimately however, it's the Son who's on a par with His Father and will inherit everything.

Moses was faithful to God as a servant. The Law that he delivered is like a chauffeur to lead us to Christ. The law shows us our need of a Saviour, who is the Lord Jesus.

Jesus, despite being the Son of God, served His Father in humility and perfection in His earthly advent. Unlike Moses, He even laid down His life for the people of God. Now He is exalted in the highest heaven.

Amazingly, although we are to serve God humbly, we are also His adopted children through faith in Christ. So whilst a servant works for wages, we as God's children have an inheritence in eternity to look forward to.

'Father in heaven, how we praise You for Your Son, in whom we are adopted by You. Please help us serve You gladly, until You call us home, amen'
