End

 until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end.

Asaph was depressed when he considered the easy lives so many evil people have. It grates against our sense of justice that bad people often seem to get away with it. If we dwell on it too much, it'll get us down.

Thankfully, this verse is the hinge point in the Psalm that brings us to a more positive conclusion. Meeting up with the people of God put everything into perspective for Asaph. If we are only focused on the present, we'll be discouraged. That's why we need to look to the end of the matter.

The end of the matter answers the problem of suffering as well. If suffering is the only prospect we have, that would be demoralising. If there's going to be an end to suffering, that'll be really encouraging.

For those who trust God, there will be an end to our suffering. For those who reject Him, their suffering has hardly begun. Evildoers might get away with it for a season, but they will get their comeuppance if they don't repent, in eternity.

'Everlasting God, please give us the eternal perspective we need to make sense of this life. May we repent of our evil and trust You, for You are worthy, in Christ's name, amen'

Power

Helper

Humanly speaking, we want to be the main act, not the side show. Yet, even though God is the director of life, He isn't afraid to step on stage to help us out.
