Leadership

and whoever would be first among you must be your slave,
Matthew 20:27 ESV

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be first, with wanting to excel in what we do. Leadership is a gift of God. But how are we to lead?

We aren't to lead like worldly leaders, who lord it over their people. Worldly leaders expect to be served. Godly leaders lead by example, and serve their flocks.

There's no kings in God's Kingdom other than Jesus, the King of kings. We are all ministers, or servants, in the household of God. We might be adopted into God's family, but even sons and daughters have to contribute to the running of the family home.

Being a child of God doesn't mean to say we can laze around. We need to serve our Lord. Even He didn't come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

'O Lord our God, may we serve You as we ought, and lead by example within Your Kingdom. Thank You that Christ has ransomed us for You, in His name we pray, amen'
